Dr. Assaf provides the following services:
Treatment of keratoconus
And keratoconus is a widespread disease in Egypt and the Arab world, affecting the cornea of the eye,
It converts it from the natural convex degree to a higher degree of convexity to take a cone or funnel shape,
The resulting image is affected on the retina, becomes more disorganized, and vision measurements change depending on the increase in the degree of convex or cone.
There are several methods of keratoconus treatment, such as:
Corneal cross linking
It is a simple process that aims to stabilize the cornea and increase its hardness and prevent cone from increasing.
This is done by distilling the vitamin B2 on the cornea and then shining ultraviolet light on it for a specified period,
A triple reaction between the projected rays and the distillate on the cornea leads to an increase in the surface stiffness and prevents cone from increasing.
INTACS Ring
Treatment of keratoconus with rings is one of the methods of stabilizing keratoconus and preventing an increase in conic deviation,
This is done by installing corneal struts by using the femtosecond laser to correct the degree of convexity, increase stiffness and immobility.
